Frequently asked questions

Answers about activation, privacy, delivery details and returning your valuables.

01What is KEYRETURN?

KEYRETURN is a service for returning lost keys, phones and wallets. A finder uses the RKN code on an activated tag or card to start a return. We do not reveal the owner's name, address or contact details during this process.

02How does a lost-item return work?

The finder enters the RKN code and chooses GLS locker drop-off or courier collection. The item first goes to KEYRETURN. We notify you by email, and you choose address delivery or GLS locker collection in My KEYRETURN. We then arrange shipment to you.

03How do I activate a tag or card?

After receiving your package, sign in to My KEYRETURN. For each tag, enter its RKN, the private activation code from your package and your phone number for notifications. The RKN alone is not enough for activation. The activation code is for one-time use; do not share it with a finder.

04Does KEYRETURN use GPS or tracking?

No. Tags and cards have no GPS or battery and do not track the item's location. The system relies on the RKN code and return process. No app installation is needed; purchase, activation and delivery choices are handled on the website.

05Which personal details do you need?

For consumer purchases we need email and phone for notifications. Address delivery also needs the recipient's name and address; locker delivery needs the selected GLS locker. Stripe handles payment and may request additional payer details. Business purchases require invoice details. Tag activation in My KEYRETURN also requires the RKN and private activation code from your package.

06Is a purchase completely anonymous?

No. Even with GLS locker delivery, we process email, phone and order details, while Stripe processes payment data. We do not need a consumer's home address for locker delivery. Privacy during a return means we do not reveal the owner's contact details to the finder; it does not mean purchasing without personal data.

07Does KEYRETURN store my delivery name and address?

Yes. For consumer address delivery, we store the recipient's name and address to prepare the GLS label and deliver the package. After confirmed delivery, we remove them from the operational purchase records. We do not keep a consumer purchase address for reuse in found-item returns. You enter details separately for each return; necessary details are shared with GLS.

08How long do you keep a consumer purchase name and address?

We remove a consumer delivery name and address during the daily check after GLS confirms receipt. We do not retain them for later disputes or address reuse in returns. Found-item return details have a separate purpose and retention period. Business invoice data and tax evidence follow their separate rules.

09Can I use my purchase address for a return?

A consumer purchase address is not reused. For each return, enter an address or choose a GLS parcel locker in My KEYRETURN. For a business purchase, ‘Use purchase address’ is available only while a suitable business address is still held; check and correct it before use.

10Are my name and address on the invoice?

Consumer invoices say only ‘Končni kupec’, for both address and GLS locker delivery. The delivery name and address are not on the invoice; we use them for address delivery and remove them from operational purchase records after confirmed delivery. Business and sole-trader invoices contain business details.

11How do I buy for a business or sole trader?

In the cart, select ‘I am buying as a business or sole trader’ and enter the business name, registered address and tax number. These appear on the invoice for both delivery methods, including GLS lockers. Invoice details can differ from the delivery address. Address deliveries are addressed to the business.

12What should I do if I find an item with a KEYRETURN tag?

On the found-item return page, enter the public RKN code from the tag or card and follow the instructions. You do not need the owner's private activation code. Choose locker drop-off with a PIN or GLS courier collection; no printed label is needed. In both cases, provide sender details, package the item and hand it over as instructed.

13Why do I enter my address as a finder even for locker drop-off?

You are the sender, so GLS needs your name, email, phone and sender address to prepare the shipment, including for locker drop-off. KEYRETURN stores these details for the return and shares them with GLS. This differs from collecting a parcel at a locker, where a consumer does not need a home address. Enter an IBAN only if you choose a cash reward.

14Does the finder receive a reward?

For a successfully returned item, the finder can choose EUR 20 by bank transfer, a EUR 25 Müller gift card or a code for 25% off KEYRETURN packages. They can also decline a reward. A bank transfer requires an IBAN; the gift card or discount code is emailed after the item is received.

15How long does the service last?

The lost-item return service lasts five years and is included in the one-time package payment. After receiving the package, activate each tag in My KEYRETURN using its RKN and private activation code.

16What does each package contain?

The number of tags and cards depends on the package. The exact contents are shown on each package page before you add it to your cart.

17How do I receive an order or returned item?

GLS handles delivery. Choose order delivery in the cart and found-item delivery separately in My KEYRETURN. Choose an address or GLS locker. Consumers do not need a home address for locker delivery; business invoice details and finder sender details are separate.

18What are the tags and cards made of?

Tags are made from quality metal with a double silicone coating for scratch and impact resistance. Standard-sized cards are made from quality PVC and protected with a scratch-resistant coating.
